Inclusive dance balls which inclusive pairs and groups from different regions of Russia and abroad take part in, are held as a part of “Inclusive Dance” festival events.
The first International inclusive dance ball took place on the 18th of November 2015 as part of the III “Inclusive Dance” International Charity Festival final events. Over 120 inclusive pairs from Russia, Italy, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Argentine took part in this event. The guests of the ball learned dances of the 19th century: “The duke Charles March”, “Our Rome”, “Polka”, “Polonaise”, “The Saint Bernar Waltz”, “Cotillion” and other ones.
ТAccording to historic ball traditions there is a special etiquette, and it should be observed by all participants.
ETIQUETTE ON THE BALL
Dress code
Ladies are wearing long evening dress. There are no limits in choosing of color: you may wear black dress or dress which was fashionable last year. Note: Debutants, opening the ball or young ladies should wear white dresses.
If you chose an open dress without sleeves, you should wear tippet or evening jacket. It’s only advice, not strict rule. You’d better choose gloves of the same color as your dress. If you are wearing open dress with open shoulders, the length of gloves must be above the elbow if you are wearing dress with sleeves, gloves must be shorter.
Gentlemen are wearing black bow-tie and tail-coat, tuxedo or full dress. You may wear tail-coat with tails, white shirt with cufflinks, trousers with braes, and patent-leather shoes (without laces), pocket-watch instead of wrist-watch.
The tuxedo consists of: trousers made of silk sateen, single- or double breasted jacket without slit behind, рубашка гладкая или плиссированная на грудиplain or pleated near the chest shirt, patent-leather shoes or polished shoes with laces. Full dress is allowed to be worn as an alternative.
Ladies and gentlemen are allowed to wear folk costumes.
On the dance floor
Asking for a dance may be made by gentleman as well as by lady. Gentleman plays a main part on the dance floor.
After the dance gentleman sees the lady to her place at the table. Asking for the dance may be diverted but politely and decently.
After a few dances with his partner the gentleman should ask for the dance other ladies sitting at the table.
At the table
Lady sits on the right of gentleman. If lady stands up gentleman should raise a little or just show such movement. The gentleman is introduced to lady; younger person is introduced to older one.
Talking by mobile phone is strictly forbidden at the table. If it is necessary to talk you should apologize and talk out of hall.
Ideally, you should just try to follow above-mentioned rules.
What you really must do on the ball – be in a good mood, be attentive and tactful to your partner.
